Who it is for

You are already in it.

Not mass beginner classes: four people, each with a precise reason to be there. Here is who walks through the door.

01

Working stylist

Your cutting is solid, colour or application still fights back. You want to stop crossing your fingers and know why it works when it works.

02

Freshly qualified

Diploma in hand, clean theory, little practice. Here you do ten times more in one day, with someone standing behind your shoulder.

03

Freelance or working alone

Nobody to ask, nobody to fix it. A day here is the team you do not have — and a number to call afterwards.

04

Changing careers

You are seriously considering it and want to touch the craft before committing. A discovery day, in a real salon, on a real colour day.

How the day runs

One day, doors closed.

Mannequin heads in the morning: repeat, fail, start again, nothing at stake. Real models in the afternoon, with the consultation, the timing and the pressure of a genuine appointment. Lunch in the patio in between.

Let’s be clear

What this is not.

Not a brand academy

No range to shift, no national protocol to recite. We work with what is on the shelf — organic, PPD-free colour — and tell you plainly what is worth its price.

Not a certified body

Le Faubourg is a salon, not a Qualiopi-certified training centre: no CPF or OPCO funding, no official certificate. A private workshop — and a price that reflects it in your favour.

Not a classroom

No slideshow, no rows of desks. The basins, the chairs, the colour lab and the light of 442 rue Paradis — and models who leave properly done.

The catchment

Where people come from.

The salon sits at the crossroads of the 8th: Périer metro on line 2, A50 and A7 exits minutes away, Saint-Charles station a quarter of an hour off. Half the people who come are not from Marseille.

01

Marseille 8th, on foot

Périer, Prado, Castellane, Saint-Giniez, Le Rouet, Bonneveine, Vieille-Chapelle

02

Marseille, within fifteen minutes

Old Port, Préfecture, Baille, La Plaine, Mazargues, Sainte-Anne, La Timone, Saint-Charles station

03

Around Marseille

Aubagne, Allauch, Plan-de-Cuques, Gémenos, Carnoux, Cassis, La Ciotat

04

Bouches-du-Rhône & Var

Aix-en-Provence, Vitrolles, Marignane, Gardanne, Martigues, Istres, Salon-de-Provence, Toulon

Around thirty minutes from Aix-en-Provence or Aubagne, forty from La Ciotat, Vitrolles or Martigues. Days start late enough for the drive to stay comfortable — and dates are set with you.

Frequently asked

Before you book a day.

Who are these color courses for?

Working hairdressers who want to make their color solid, recent graduates who left school with theory and little practice, freelance and home-visit stylists who work alone, and career-changers or motivated beginners who want to know what they are getting into. Groups are deliberately mixed: you learn faster next to someone who came from somewhere else.

Do I need a hairdressing qualification to attend?

Not to come and learn — a discovery day is open to motivated beginners. But to be clear: practising hairdressing in France still requires the CAP, and the brevet professionnel to run your own salon. These days add a technique and an eye; they do not replace a diploma.

How much does a day cost?

It depends on the format (small group or one-to-one) and on the programme we build together. There is no price list online: call +33 4 91 76 14 38 or message @lilafaubourg on Instagram, and Lila answers with the detailed programme and the exact price.

Can it be funded by the CPF?

No. Le Faubourg is a salon, not a Qualiopi-certified training body: there is no CPF or OPCO funding and no official certificate. It is a private workshop in real conditions with the person who does the work every day — and the price reflects that in your favour.

Where and when do the days take place?

At the salon itself, 442 rue Paradis in Marseille’s 8th district, on days when it is closed to the public: the basins, chairs, colour lab and light are yours. Périer metro (line 2) is a few minutes away, the A50 and A7 exits are close, street parking available.

Mannequin heads or real models?

Both, in that order. Mannequin heads in the morning: repeat the gesture with nothing at stake, fail, start again. Real models in the afternoon, with the consultation, the timing and the pressure of a genuine appointment. That is where the day earns its keep.

How many people per session?

Four at most, often two or three, and a one-to-one format exists. Beyond that you watch instead of doing — and watching never taught anyone to place a balayage.

I am coming from Aix, Aubagne or La Ciotat — is it worth the trip?

Half the people who come do exactly that. Around thirty minutes from Aix-en-Provence or Aubagne, forty from La Ciotat, Vitrolles or Martigues. Days start late enough in the morning for the drive to stay comfortable, and dates are set with you.

Do I leave with materials?

Yes: the formula sheets you write yourself during the day, the before/after photos of your own work, and an open line on Instagram when a colour puzzles you weeks later. That follow-up is what people mention most.
