Colour can be taught.

Hair colour training in Marseille, at 442 rue Paradis. One day to understand what happens in the bowl: colorimetry, grey coverage, cool blondes, correction — on the organic, PPD-free colour the salon uses every day. Four people maximum.

The programme

What we work, in order.

Four blocks. We run all four in a day if you are starting from far back, or dig into two if you already know — you set the starting point on the phone.

01 Level 1 · Fundamentals

The grammar of color

Rules before style: tone levels, undertones, mixing law, choosing the developer. What separates color that holds from color that turns.

  • Reading hair: porosity, resistance, color history
  • Tone levels and reflects — what neutralises what, and why
  • Dosing the developer without sacrificing the fibre
  • Covering grey hair without the helmet effect
02 Level 2 · Intermediate

Balayage & lightening

Placement comes before product. Where to put the light so a balayage lives six months instead of six weeks.

  • Placing light: face, cut, hairline, movement
  • Freehand, paper, film — when each gesture is the right one
  • Running a bleach and knowing when to stop
  • Toner and gloss: the finish that makes the photo
03 Level 3 · Advanced

Cool blondes & color correction

Where careers get burned. Killing yellow, taking over someone else’s color, planning a transition without breaking the hair.

  • Neutralising yellow without going flat or green
  • Fixing a home color, a root band, a failed balayage
  • Spreading a transition over two or three sittings
  • Saying no — recognising what cannot be done today
04 In-salon · Clients

Consultation, pricing, loyalty

The part nobody teaches: running a consultation, quoting a price without apologising, bringing the client back at the right time.

  • The consultation that commits: questions, words, timing
  • Quoting a price — and holding it
  • Building a maintenance calendar (toner, treatment, retouch)
  • Shooting your own work: light, framing, before/after for Instagram
PPD-free · Organic

Learning on clean colour.

Le Faubourg works with organic colour formulated without paraphenylenediamine. That is not a window sticker: PPD is the leading cause of contact eczema among hairdressers. Learning colour on a range that does not sensitise you is also learning to last twenty years in this trade.

  • What replaces PPD in a formula, and what it changes to processing time
  • Holding a cool blonde on a gentle range without overdosing the developer
  • Taking on an allergic client: questions, patch test, alternatives
  • Explaining organic at the chair without reciting a brand leaflet
  • Translating every formula seen here into your own salon’s range
The setting

One day, doors closed.

Mannequin heads in the morning, real models in the afternoon, four trainees maximum, at the salon itself. The full run of the day, the one-to-one format and the practical questions live on the page common to all three days.

Where trainees come from. Marseille 8th and the neighbouring districts — Périer, Prado, Castellane, Saint-Giniez, Le Rouet — but also Aubagne, Allauch, Cassis, La Ciotat, Aix-en-Provence, Vitrolles, Marignane, Martigues, Salon-de-Provence and as far as Toulon. Around thirty minutes from Aix or Aubagne, forty from La Ciotat.

Périer metro (line 2) a few minutes on foot, A50 and A7 exits close by, Saint-Charles station a quarter of an hour away, street parking.

Frequently asked

The colour day, in plain terms.

What is the difference between the colour day and the balayage day?

The colour day works the formula: consultation, tone levels, neutralising, grey coverage, correction. The balayage day works the gesture and the placement of light. Most people take colour first — understanding what happens in the bowl makes balayage far easier afterwards.

Which products do we work on?

What the salon uses every day: organic, PPD-free colour and the matching developers. The reasoning transfers to any brand — you leave with legible formulas and the logic to translate them into your own line.

I am solid on maintenance colour but not on blondes — should I still come?

That is the most common profile. We build the day around cool blondes, neutralising and correction instead of the fundamentals, and skip what you already know. Say so on the phone and the programme adjusts.

Can two of us come from the same salon?

Yes, and it is often the best format: you go back with the same vocabulary, the same sheets and the same way of consulting. The group is still capped at four.

Do I leave with formulas I can use on Monday?

Yes — written in your own hand, with levels, ratios and processing times. If your brand has no exact equivalent, we note the substitution logic alongside.

How much is the colour day?

It depends on the format (small group or one-to-one) and the length. Call +33 4 91 76 14 38 or message @lilafaubourg on Instagram: Lila gives the exact price with the programme.
