Extensions,
without guesswork.

Hair extensions training in Marseille, at 442 rue Paradis. Consultation, colour-matching added hair, sectioning, density, tension, maintenance and removal: the day that separates an application you notice from one you do not. At a Great Lengths certified salon.

The real subject

An application is judged three months later.

On the day itself almost everything holds. What gives an application away is the grow-out, the ponytail and the first maintenance visit — and that comes down to three decisions.

01

The skipped consultation

Fitting on fine, weakened hair or a reactive scalp is signing up for breakage. You learn to assess, to quantify a realistic volume and to say no — which is what protects your reputation.

02

Rough colour-matching

A single shade picked from a chart always betrays the work. Real hair, especially balayaged, has to be composed: two or three levels blended, toned if needed, read in daylight.

03

Tension and placement

Slipping, breakage, soreness, visible bonds: almost always a strand that is too thick, badly set tension, or placement that ignores the hairline. We take them one at a time, by hand.

The programme

Four blocks, from consultation to removal.

01 Level 1 · Fundamentals

Consultation and feasibility

Before the first strand: can this hair carry extensions, how many, and for how long. Half of all failed applications are decided here.

  • Assessing density, hairline, fibre condition and scalp
  • Calculating a realistic volume rather than a saleable one
  • Setting honest expectations — and knowing when to refuse
  • Building a quote you can hold to the end
02 Level 2 · Intermediate

Colour-matching added hair

An extension is not picked from a chart, it is composed. Blending two or three shades so the join disappears, even over a balayage.

  • Reading a head of hair in daylight before choosing
  • Blending several levels to imitate a balayage
  • Toning extensions without burning them
  • Matching roots, lengths and ends in one reading
03 Level 3 · Advanced

The application, point by point

Sectioning, placement, density, tension: the gesture that makes an application invisible from the front, the back and in a ponytail.

  • Sectioning and placing for the cut and the way she wears it
  • Sizing strands and density zone by zone
  • Controlling tension: no slipping, no pulling, no breakage
  • Making the application invisible with the hair tied up
04 In-salon · Clients

Maintenance, removal and loyalty

An application sells twice: on the day, and every three months. This module turns a service into a natural subscription.

  • Building the maintenance calendar and holding to it
  • Removing without breakage and reapplying straight after
  • Explaining the price without apologising
  • Photographing an application: before, after, hair tied up
Let’s be clear

The craft, not the certificate.

Le Faubourg has fitted Great Lengths for years and works keratin bonds daily. But a brand certification comes from the brand: there is no partner card and no certificate here. You leave with the craft, hands that know, and someone to write to when an application fights back.

  • Refusing an application with the right arguments, without losing the client
  • Composing an extension shade that disappears into a balayage
  • Placing and sizing so nothing shows with the hair tied up
  • Setting tension: no slipping, no pulling, no breakage
  • Removing cleanly and refitting straight after
  • Selling maintenance as an appointment, not as a repair
The setting

One day, doors closed.

Mannequin head in the morning, real model in the afternoon, four trainees maximum, practice hair provided by the salon. The full run of the day and the one-to-one format live on the page common to all three days.

Where trainees come from. Marseille 8th and the neighbouring districts — Périer, Prado, Castellane, Saint-Giniez, Le Rouet — but also Aubagne, Allauch, Cassis, La Ciotat, Aix-en-Provence, Vitrolles, Marignane, Martigues, Salon-de-Provence and as far as Toulon.

Frequently asked

The extensions day, in plain terms.

Which application technique is taught?

Keratin bond, strand by strand — the one the salon uses daily with Great Lengths. The reasoning (consultation, placement, density, tension, maintenance) holds whatever technique you use afterwards.

Is this the official Great Lengths certification?

No, and that matters: a brand certification comes from the brand. Here you learn the craft from a certified salon that has been fitting extensions for years. No diploma, no partner card at the end — technique.

Do I need to know how to fit extensions already?

No. The day works as a first approach and as a way to unlearn bad habits. Say where you stand on the phone: more time on consultation for beginners, more on density and colour-matching for the rest.

My clients complain about slipping or breakage — can this help?

That is the most common reason people come. Slipping, breakage and soreness almost always come from three things: a strand that is too thick, badly set tension, or placement that ignores the hairline. We take them one at a time, on a mannequin head then on a model.

What do we practise on?

Mannequin head in the morning to repeat the gesture, real model in the afternoon for the full service: consultation, colour-matching, application, blending cut and finish. Practice hair is provided by the salon.

How much is the extensions day?

The price is given in person: it depends on the format and the amount of hair used. Call +33 4 91 76 14 38 or message @lilafaubourg on Instagram.
